Your approach to personal development is integral to the effectiveness of the development itself.
One approach is to avidly pursue perfection, using personal development as a way to focus on the negative aspects of yourself. This is a recipe for being hard on yourself, tearing yourself down rather than growing — and many fall into this trap.
Another approach is to realise you are human, to understand that development is a lifelong process, and to relish your gifts and strengths. Certainly, come face-to-face with your weaknesses, at your core motivation. Be rigorously honest. However, make the effort to be gentle with yourself. To be compassionate. Let yourself flower.
