Monthly Focus Meeting Power

When I began running an RR Donnelley printing plant, it became clear that the manufacturing departments regularly missed budget. I instituted a quick, 15 minute check-in for each department each month to review the financials. The supervisors began to check their actuals to budget, and worked hard to ensure their costs were lower than budget. As a result, by the end of the year, the plant’s actual costs were below budget for the first time in over 5 years.
